Quick recap

Jaime Reyes is an ordinary teen in El Paso, Texas, until a blue scarab fuses to his spine and covers him in alien armor. The scarab talks to him in a language only Jaime understands and sometimes acts on its own. Unlike many heroes, Jaime tells his family and his friends Paco and Brenda everything, and they help him deal with local villains, crime boss La Dama and suspicious heroes. Bit by bit he learns to control the armor. By the end of the volume, Jaime knows the scarab is a weapon of an alien empire, the Reach, and that his fight with them is just getting started.
