Sidney Prescott

Sidney is still reeling from her mother Maureen's murder when Ghostface calls. She suspects her boyfriend, Billy, after he climbs through her window right after the attack. At the party at Stu's house, it all comes out: Billy and Stu are the killers, and they murdered Maureen. Sidney fights back, drops a TV on Stu's head and fires the final shot into Billy.

At Windsor, Sidney tries to have a normal life with her boyfriend, Derek. The premiere of Stab brings a new killer. She loses Randy, then Derek. On the theater stage she faces Mickey and Billy's mother, Nancy Loomis, who wanted revenge. Sidney walks out alive and hands the press over to Cotton.

Sidney lives off the grid under another name, working a women's crisis line. The killer finds her and calls using her mother's voice. In Hollywood she learns about Maureen's past as an actress. At the producer's mansion, Roman Bridger reveals he is her half-brother and the one who showed Billy Maureen's affair. Sidney takes him on and, in the end, leaves her front gate open.

Fifteen years later, Sidney has written a book about getting past trauma and returns to Woodsboro to promote it. The killings start again around her cousin, Jill. Sidney protects her family as best she can and loses her aunt, Kate. In the end she learns Jill wanted to take her place as the famous survivor. At the hospital, Sidney beats her for good.

Sidney is married now, with kids, living far away. When Dewey is killed, she returns to Woodsboro to help Sam and Tara Carpenter, the new generation of targets. At Stu's old house, alongside Gale, she takes on Amber and Richie and lets Sam finish what she started. Before she leaves, Sam thanks her, and Sidney heads home to her family.

In Pine Grove, Sidney runs a coffeehouse, has a cop husband and a teenage daughter, Tatum, named after the friend she lost. Ghostface calls wearing Stu's face and goes after Tatum. Sidney learns the face is fake and the killers wanted to turn her daughter into a new Sidney. Mother and daughter end the night side by side.

Neve Campbell plays Sidney in six of the seven films. She sat out Scream VI over a pay dispute and came back for Scream 7.
