Naomi Nagata

Naomi is an engineer on the Canterbury and survives its destruction with Holden, Amos and Alex. Aboard the Donnager, the Martians suspect she's an OPA sleeper agent. On Eros, as the station falls apart, she refuses to leave without Holden, even with the escape ready.

When the crew decides to destroy the protomolecule sample, Naomi fakes the launch and secretly hands it to Fred Johnson. On Ganymede she repairs the Weeping Somnambulist with Amos and gets the children off the moon. Around this time, she and Holden start a romance. In the end she confesses what she did, and their relationship takes a hit.

Naomi tells Holden why she gave the sample away: she wanted to protect a son she has in the Belt. She swears never to do it again. Later she commands the Behemoth alongside Drummer, but realizes she belongs on the Rocinante, and Drummer lets her go. In the fight for the reactor room, she crushes Diogo with an elevator and helps shut the ship down.

On Ilus, Naomi takes harsh drugs to cope with the planet's gravity and tries to live on the surface, but her body can't take it. She helps young Lucia escape Murtry and later backs Lucia's plan to tether the Barbapiccola to the Rocinante so the settlers' ship doesn't fall.

Naomi learns her son, Filip, is on Pallas and goes after him alone. She ends up a prisoner of the boy's father, Marco Inaros. She talks to Filip about the past, with Marco watching, and tries to show him Marco is using him. Cyn dies trying to stop her escape. Naomi reaches a derelict ship, finds the trap set for Holden and distorts the fake distress call to warn him. Bobbie rescues her.

Naomi goes back for Filip and tells him he's loved, which helps him choose his own path. In the final battle, the plan that beats Marco is hers: push too much mass through the gate just as he crosses, waking the entities that live there. In her closing speech, she says people should follow their conscience and try to help, even without knowing how it will turn out.

In the books, Naomi debuts in Leviathan Wakes (2011). On the show she's played by Dominique Tipper.
