Lee Shaw

In 1952, Shaw is sent to escort Keiko on a radiation survey in the Philippines. There they meet Bill, and the three nearly die when an Ion Dragon attacks. By 1954, Shaw holds a command post at Monarch, but he watches General Puckett turn the project's uranium into a bomb to kill Godzilla at Bikini Atoll. He holds Keiko back so she can't stop the blast. In return, Monarch gets a near-blank check.

In 1955, Shaw and Keiko grow close at a defense industry ball. When she and Bill go to Japan to test Dr. Suzuki's Titan lure, Shaw walks out of a budget meeting to follow her. The lure draws Godzilla, who destroys it. Because Shaw skipped out, Puckett hands Monarch's command to another officer. With the project nearly shut down, Shaw pulls together Keiko and Bill's research and tells Puckett that Godzilla survived the bomb.

Shaw falls for Keiko, who ends up marrying Bill. In 1959, she vanishes down a pit in Kazakhstan. In 1962, Shaw leads Operation Hourglass, an expedition into Hollow Earth, but the tunnel collapses and his team dies in Axis Mundi. He comes out the other side in 1982, in Japan, without having aged. Bill is dead by then, and Monarch keeps Shaw under house arrest for decades.

In 2015, Keiko's grandchildren, Cate and Kentaro, show up looking for their missing father. Shaw runs off with them and May to Alaska and the Sahara. Then he tries to seal the tunnels to Hollow Earth and falls into Axis Mundi with Cate and May. There they find Keiko, who hasn't aged. On the way out, Shaw stays behind to reconnect a cable.

S2 reveals that back in 1957, Shaw and Keiko had already seen this Titan on an island in Chile and shared a secret romance there. In 2017, Cate sends the vehicle back and Shaw gets out, but the energy surge wakes Titan X. He helps Keiko and the Randas track the monster and uses a Titan lure to call Godzilla against it. Thanks to the way time bends in Axis Mundi, Shaw even talks to his younger self, trapped there in 1962, and convinces him not to look for Keiko. At the end of the season, he follows Kentaro to Thailand and finds Rodan inside a volcano.

Lee Shaw was created for the show. Kurt and Wyatt Russell, father and son, share the role, and Wyatt is also an executive producer. Apple announced spinoffs in development alongside the April 2024 renewal, with no dates.
