Kong

The guardian of Skull Island

Kong is a giant ape who protects Skull Island and the people who live there. He's the last of his kind on the surface, locked in a war with the Skullcrawlers, the reptiles that killed his family. He's smarter than he looks and bonds with the people who earn it.

Kong: Skull Island

King of the island

In 1973, a Monarch expedition drops seismic charges on Skull Island. Kong, still young and growing, swats the helicopters down one by one. Hank Marlow, a pilot stranded there since 1944, explains that Kong protects the island: his parents were killed by the Skullcrawlers, and he's the last one left.

Lt. Col. Packard wants revenge and sets a napalm trap. Kong goes down, but gets back up when the biggest Skullcrawler shows up. In the fight he saves photographer Mason Weaver, kills the creature and lets the survivors leave.

The Kraken

Years before 1993, Kong looked after a girl who lived on the island with other castaways. After one fight, his blood in the water woke the Kraken, a tentacled monster that wiped out the village. Kong carried the wounded girl to his temple, where she died, and kept her necklace on an altar.

In 1993, a group of castaways steals that necklace to lure Kong to the beach. There he takes on the Kraken, wounds it with the hull of a sunken boat and tears it in half.

Trapper fits him with a mechanical glove built by Monarch. Kong goes up to the surface to ask Godzilla for help, and the two take on the Skar King in Rio de Janeiro and back in Hollow Earth. Kong kills the tyrant, frees Shimo and becomes the apes' leader.
