Johnny

Dracula's zombies accidentally bring Johnny to the hotel, and Dracula disguises him as Johnnystein, a supposed cousin of Frank. The backpacker becomes a party planner and soon wins over the monsters. He meets Mavis and the two feel a zing.

Dracula exposes the lie, and Johnny, out of respect for Mavis's father, leaves and boards a plane. Dracula chases the plane in bat form, apologizes over the PA and says Mavis can decide for herself. Johnny accepts, returns and confesses that the zing was mutual.

Johnny and Mavis marry with Dracula's blessing. With son Dennis nearing five, Mavis considers living in California, but Johnny doesn't want to leave the hotel. At Dracula's request, he takes his wife to visit his parents there. At their house Mavis feels out of place, and Johnny persuades her Dennis can have a normal life at the hotel.

When Vlad arrives and hates humans, Dracula tells Johnny's family to dress as monsters. But Johnny, irritated, reveals who they are. Vlad scolds Dracula for accepting humans, and Dracula stands up to him. In the end, Johnny and Mavis agree to raise Dennis in Transylvania.

On the cruise, Johnny goes along with the family and gives Mavis the right advice about her father. When Van Helsing makes the Kraken attack, Johnny opens a portable DJ kit and plays positive songs to beat the villain's tune. The Macarena calms the Kraken, and humans and monsters dance. Van Helsing's plan goes under.

Johnny wants to renovate the hotel, but Dracula lies about a law. To help him, Van Helsing uses a ray that turns him into a dragon. On the trip to South America, Johnny and Dracula start to understand each other, but the transformation keeps changing Johnny until he loses control. When Dracula says he sees him as family, Johnny comes back to himself.

Andy Samberg voices Johnny in all four films. In the 2012 film, Samberg also co-wrote and performed "Sweet 118", one of the party songs.
