Aidan Keller

The boy who senses Samara before anyone else

Aidan is Rachel and Noah's son. Quiet and watchful, he draws scenes he should not know and warns the adults about Samara. David Dorfman played him in the first two films.

The Ring

The boy who draws

Aidan is eight and a quiet kid. His drawings show things nobody told him, and he says Samara "won't stop". Aidan watches the tape. From that day he is the first to notice something is wrong: late on, he warns his mother that helping Samara was a mistake. At the end of the film he asks Rachel what happens to whoever watches the copy, and she does not answer.

The Ring Two

Samara's target

Nine years old, bruises on his arms and a fever. Aidan begins to have nightmares in which Samara pulls him into a television. At a fair he photographs his own reflection and Samara shows up. He becomes afraid of water, and doctors suspect his mother of abuse. Samara possesses him and makes him do things he does not want to. To drive her from her son's body, Rachel has to nearly drown him. Aidan is himself again once his mother beats Samara in the well.

In comics and books

Aidan does not exist in Koji Suzuki's novels. In the Ring book, Asakawa has an infant daughter, and his wife watches the tape out of curiosity with the baby on her lap. The part of the child in danger was rewritten for the film, with a much bigger presence.
