Quick recap

A hired killer, Wyburd, corners Simon, a young man whose body is covered in scars that spell out words. The deal is simple: a quick death instead of a slow one, if Simon tells the story of the Book of Blood. He does. Paranormal researcher Mary Florescu brought Simon, whom she believed was psychic, into a haunted house. They became lovers. Simon faked some of the phenomena, but the dead really did choose him and started writing on him. Mary promises to tell their stories, and Simon lives. But she got rich off books taken from his skin and kept him prisoner. Wyburd kills Simon and takes the skin, but blood floods the building. Mary collects the skin and reads the new stories.
