Rio de Janeiro, December 1970. Brazil is under military rule, but the Paiva family home, right across from Leblon beach, is full of joy. Eunice and her husband, former congressman Rubens Paiva, raise their five children surrounded by friends, music, beach days and conversations that run late into the night.
Behind that easygoing routine, Rubens secretly helps people hunted by the regime. The mood in the country darkens after an ambassador is kidnapped, and some friends decide to leave for London, taking the couple's eldest daughter, Vera, with them.
Not long after, in January 1971, plainclothes soldiers enter the house and take Rubens away to "give a statement." He never comes back. From then on, Eunice has to hold the family together, face the authorities' silence and find out what happened to her husband, while keeping her children on their feet. The film tells this true story through her eyes.
Based on the 2015 memoir Ainda Estou Aqui by Marcelo Rubens Paiva
