Quick recap

In England, a stranger tells Jack that peace is coming. Jack invests on the tip, and his father, General Aubrey, spreads the rumor and speculates heavily. It turns out to be false, prices crash and Jack is arrested for rigging the market. Meanwhile, Stephen learns Diana has gone to Sweden with Jagiello and returns to laudanum, but he inherits a fortune from his godfather. Jack is convicted, fined and spends an hour in the pillory, shielded by sailors who pack the square. Stephen buys the Surprise at auction, and a French agent hands over the names behind the fraud.
