Quick recap

Four years on, Jack is married to Sophia, has twin daughters and lives on half-pay. Stephen brings a secret commission: Jack gets the frigate Boadicea and, at Cape Town, is made commodore of a small squadron sent to take the French islands of Réunion and Mauritius. Réunion falls almost without loss, helped by Stephen's propaganda. Mauritius is harder: two British ships run aground and are burned, Captain Clonfert is captured badly wounded and Corbett is killed in action. Admiral Bertie arrives to take over, the invasion succeeds and Clonfert kills himself in the hospital. Jack sails home with news of the victory.
