Quick recap

The Spanish treasure is declared Crown property, and Jack loses almost all of his prize money. Jailed for debt, he is rescued by Stephen, who persuades Sir Joseph Blaine to give Jack the frigate HMS Surprise. The job is to carry the envoy Stanhope to the Sultan of Kampong. The envoy dies on the way, and on the trip back Jack bluffs Admiral Linois's squadron to save the East India Company fleet. In Calcutta, Stephen duels Canning, Diana's new protector. Canning dies, Stephen removes the bullet from his own body with a mirror, and Diana leaves for America with another man. At Madeira, Jack finds Sophia again.
