Quick recap

Around 1811, Jack gets the old Leopard to carry help to Governor Bligh in Australia. Stephen comes along to keep an eye on Louisa Wogan, an American convicted of spying and shipped as a prisoner. Off the Cape, the 74-gun Dutch ship Waakzaamheid chases the Leopard into the Roaring Forties. A lucky shot brings down the enemy's foremast, and she sinks. Soon after, the Leopard hits an iceberg, loses her rudder and starts leaking badly. Jack nurses the crippled ship to Desolation Island. There, Stephen lets Louisa escape on an American whaler carrying false intelligence. The book ends with everyone still stranded on the island.
