Quick recap

After a long sleep, Lestat wakes to the sound of a rock band, becomes its singer and tells the world vampires are real. Jesse Reeves, a Talamasca researcher, figures out who he is and tracks him down. The music also wakes Akasha, the first vampire. She kills the vampires who plan to attack Lestat at his concert and takes him to her island, where he falls under her power. The ancient vampires, among them Jesse's aunt Maharet, decide to destroy her by draining her blood. Akasha orders Lestat to kill Jesse, but he breaks free and helps drain the queen. Maharet turns to stone and takes Akasha's place. Jesse becomes a vampire, and she and Lestat leave together.
