Quick recap

When her adoptive mother, Elena, dies, neurosurgeon Rowan Fielding learns she's heir to the Mayfair witches, a wealthy New Orleans family. Along with the inheritance comes Lasher, a shape-shifting entity bound to the family's witches for generations. The Talamasca sends agent Ciprien Grieve, an empath, to watch her. Rowan uncovers what her uncle Cortland did to her birth mother, Deirdre. In the end she turns Cortland to stone and gives birth to a child through whom Lasher will be reborn.
