After World War II, Louis and Claudia search Europe for other vampires and reach Paris and Armand's Théâtre des Vampires. Louis gets involved with Armand, and Claudia befriends the dressmaker Madeleine. Santiago reads Claudia's diaries and plots a coup. Louis turns Madeleine, and the coven drags all three into a mock trial where Lestat shows up alive as a witness. Claudia and Madeleine die in the sun, and Louis is sealed in a coffin. Armand frees him, and Louis burns the theater with the coven inside. He picks Armand over Lestat. In the present, Daniel, now turned by Armand, publishes the interview, learns Armand staged the trial, and Louis goes back to Lestat in New Orleans.
