Quick recap

Louis can't get past losing Claudia and wants to speak with her spirit. David Talbot, the former Talamasca head and now a vampire, turns to Merrick Mayfair, a New Orleans witch he met as a girl and shared adventures with in Central America. Merrick takes Claudia's diary from the Talamasca vaults and performs the ritual. Claudia appears and confirms every bitter thing she wrote about Louis. Crushed, Louis tries to die in the sun. Lestat, David and Merrick save him with blood. Then Merrick admits she used magic to lure David and Louis from the start: she wanted the blood, and she becomes a vampire. The Talamasca is furious, but David warns the order against going to war.
