Quick recap

Mona Mayfair is dying from an illness tied to giving birth to Morrigan, her Taltos daughter. Lestat turns her so she can be with Quinn Blackwood. Rowan, Mona's guardian, reveals the family's genetic link to the Taltos. Mona wants to find Morrigan again, so Lestat, Quinn and Mona travel to the island of a Taltos colony worn down by years of intrigue and war. The survivors end up taken in by the Mayfairs at the family's medical center. Maharet and Mekare teach Mona and Quinn how to live as vampires. Lestat falls for Rowan, who is married to Michael, and she asks him to turn her. He refuses, because the family needs her.
