Quick recap

The book opens with what happened to Megatron: held captive on the planet Quintessa, he is destroyed and rebuilt hundreds of times until he receives a dark equal of the Matrix that turns him into a weapon able to control whoever wields it. Back on Earth, he turns the tables: the Aerialbots form Superion, but Megatron shoots him down, and Slingshot dies. Optimus loses his borrowed arm and has to fight without it. In the final battle, Megatron pins Optimus atop a skyscraper and forces him to choose between saving Spike and Carly or Beachcomber. Cliffjumper frees him and cuts down Megatron, gravely wounded, and the Decepticons retreat. Starscream meets his own end, and the war goes on.
