Quick recap

Bonhart tells his prisoner Ciri what the gang he wiped out was like. Before they meet Ciri, the six Rats plan to rob Bert Brigden, who has been skimming betting money from Dominik Houvenaghel's arena. They recruit Brehen, a weary Cat School witcher, for the job. Mistle, once a noblewoman, is looking for Juniper, the handmaiden she loved, whom Brigden kidnapped years earlier. In the vault, she learns the monster guarding the loot is Juniper herself, transformed by alchemy, and has to kill her. Asse takes Brigden down. Brehen locks himself in the vault with Bonhart, Houvenaghel's cousin, so the Rats can escape, and dies. The gang toasts Brehen and Juniper and heads for Glyswen.
