Quick recap

During the events of Incredibles 2, designer Edna Mode agrees to babysit Jack-Jack while Bob and Helen are busy. She is used to making suits for superheroes, but has never looked after a baby. She soon learns Jack-Jack has many powers that show up without warning, and she tries to cope with all of them. The short shows the mansion's routine through Edna's eyes, with slapstick humor and plenty of chaos, and runs alongside the film without repeating its scenes.

Hidden details

  1. SetupIt arrived with the second film's home release

Auntie Edna came out in autumn 2018 with the digital, DVD and Blu-ray release of Incredibles 2. Like Jack-Jack Attack, the short happens during the film: it shows Edna Mode babysitting Jack-Jack as she copes with his newly discovered powers.

  2. CameoEdna's voice is the director's in both films

Brad Bird voices Edna Mode in The Incredibles and Incredibles 2. The voice came from the temporary storyboard recordings for the first film and stuck. Pixar has a habit of keeping staff voices that work.

  3. ReferenceThe name comes from a Pixar software

Edna was named after EMode, a software Pixar used while making the first film. Bird imagined her as a science genius, half German and half Japanese, who explains who makes the heroes' suits. The Incredibles was Pixar's first PG-rated film, and the scene about capes killing heroes is cited as an example of that darker humor.
