Quick recap

Five months later, Jude is seneschal and secretly controls Cardan. Orlagh, Queen of the Undersea, pushes to marry her daughter, Nicasia, to Cardan. At Taryn and Locke's wedding, Jude is attacked. Later a fellow spy betrays her, and she is taken to the Undersea, where she resists enchantment and pretends to obey. Balekin orders her to kill Cardan. At a ball, Cardan is poisoned, and Jude kills Balekin in a duel to get the antidote. With their bargain running out, Cardan proposes marriage in exchange for being freed from her command, and they marry in secret. Soon after, to appease the Undersea, he exiles Jude to the mortal world for killing Balekin.
