Quick recap

Akkarin secretly starts teaching Sonea black magic while he hunts the Ichani, outcast Sachakan magicians sending spies and killers into Imardin. The secret gets out, and both are exiled to Sachaka, where they grow close. When the Ichani invade Kyralia, they sneak back with help from Cery's Thieves, Dorrien, and Regin. Lorlen is mortally wounded and urges Akkarin to take his power. In the final battle, Kariko springs a trap that runs Akkarin through the chest. He pours all his power into Sonea, who destroys the last Ichani, and he dies. Sonea becomes the Guild's official Black Magician, under watch, and finds out she's carrying his child.
