The night at the bar ends with George having a mild heart attack, and guilt over what almost happened with Brenda weighs on him. Georgie drops out of school to work and partners with Meemaw in a gambling room hidden behind her laundromat. Sheldon gets a dorm room, starts engineering class, clashes with the lab's new scientist and attends his first comic book convention. Georgie meets Mandy, an older weather girl, and she gets pregnant. The whole family finds out, the church gossips and Missy stands up for her brother. In the finale, George and Mary hunt for new jobs, and Georgie and Meemaw take a risky business trip across the border.
