Quick recap

Before he meets Shrek, Puss in Boots is an outlaw on the run. He's after Jack and Jill's magic beans and runs into Kitty Softpaws, a thief working for Humpty Dumpty, Puss's childhood friend from the San Ricardo orphanage. Humpty is the one who dragged him into the heist that made him a wanted cat. The three get the beans, climb the beanstalk and steal a gosling from the Golden Goose. It's a setup: Humpty wanted to lure Mother Goose to town. Puss saves San Ricardo, Humpty sacrifices himself and becomes a golden egg, and Puss clears his name with his adoptive mother.
