Quick recap

Sir Henry Baskerville inherits an estate on the moors of Dartmoor, where the family is pursued by a legend: a hellish hound that kills the heirs. Dr. Mortimer asks Holmes for help, and Holmes, busy, sends Watson to the moor. Among anonymous letters, an escaped convict and lights in the night, Watson gathers clues. Holmes turns up at the right moment, unravels the trick, and the story closes in the fog of the Grimpen Mire. It is the detective's most famous novel, published in 1902.
