At Christmas 2013, Ryan, his wife Emily and their six-year-old daughter Leila host Ryan's brother, Mike. Mike finds tapes from 1988 to 1992 and an old camera that records spiritual beings. Leila talks to an imaginary friend, Tobi. The tapes show Katie and Kristi, and the Fleeges' house was sold by an adult Katie posing as a real estate agent. Ryan uncovers a coven, The Midwives, and learns Leila's blood is needed for Tobi to gain a body. Father Todd tries to cleanse the house and Tobi drags him away. Ryan traps the demon in a sheet soaked in holy water, but Skylar and Mike die and Ryan is killed. Leila steps into a portal and arrives at the 1992 house, where she meets Tobi in human form.
