Quick recap

In 2005, Katie hands a box of old tapes to her pregnant sister, Kristi. A year later the house is ransacked and the tapes vanish. The rest of the film is that 1988 footage. Young Katie and Kristi live with their mother, Julie, and her boyfriend, Dennis. Kristi has an imaginary friend, Tobi, and odd things start happening. Dennis places cameras around the house and spots an invisible figure in falling dust. The babysitter quits, Randy gets scratched and Dennis finds a symbol tied to a witches' coven. Julie takes the girls to Grandma Lois's house in Moorpark. There Julie is killed, and Lois and the other women of the coven kill Dennis. Lois tells the girls to get ready, and Kristi calls for Tobi.
