Naruto Shippuden · Akatsuki Suppression Mission

Two Akatsuki members, Hidan, who can't die, and Kakuzu, who keeps several hearts, attack the Fire Temple. Team Asuma intercepts them, and Asuma falls to Hidan's cursed ritual. Shikamaru sets out with Ino, Choji, and Kakashi to avenge his teacher. Meanwhile Naruto trains with Kakashi and Yamato to merge the Rasengan with wind chakra, using hundreds of clones. Shikamaru snares Hidan with his shadow, lures him into a trap, and buries him alive in the Nara clan's forest. Naruto arrives and hits Kakuzu with the Rasenshuriken, which wrecks the villain but damages his own arm. Kakashi lands the final blow, and Tsunade bans the technique.

   While Naruto trains his new move, Kakashi reveals he can do the Rasengan too. He tried to add his own chakra nature to it and failed, which is exactly what Naruto goes after.

   Immortal, Hidan survives even being beheaded. Shikamaru's answer is to bury him in pieces in a pit in the Nara clan's forest, and there he stays.
