Filler arc. Konoha's plans go missing, and the village finds explosives planted everywhere. The man behind it is Gennō, an elderly carpenter who had been working in the village in disguise. He is actually the last survivor of Kagerō Village, destroyed years ago, and wants to carry out one final mission. The Leaf genin band together to disarm the traps, and time spent with Naruto changes the old man's plans: he turns the attack into a treasure hunt, the kind he used to set up for his son. On Hokage Mountain, Gennō takes on the kids and keeps pace with Rock Lee, but his body gives out. He dies of old wounds, content with the challenge.
