Full story
Marvel Zombies takes place in an alternate reality where a virus turned the heroes into hungry undead. Five years after the outbreak, almost every Avenger is a zombie, and the horde answers to Wanda Maximoff, now the Queen of the Dead, who controls the zombies through generals such as Okoye. The series runs four episodes and follows a group of young survivors trying to save what is left of the planet.
Kamala Khan, Kate Bishop, and Riri Williams, helped by the AI F.R.I.D.A.Y., scavenge the ruins and find a transmitter that can call the Nova Corps, who might have a cure. Kamala is saved by Blade, who is now Khonshu's avatar, Moon Knight. The group reaches a S.H.I.E.L.D. base in Ohio run by Melina and the Red Guardian. Along the way they fight zombie heroes, Kate and Riri are left behind in a battle, and Melina sacrifices herself so the others can escape. The plan is to get the transmitter into space.
In the second episode, the crew runs into another group of survivors: Shang-Chi, his friend Katy, and Jimmy Woo. The two groups join up at the Raft, a refuge run by Yelena Belova. Zombies and an infected Namor attack the place, and Yelena sacrifices herself to cover the escape. Next stop is New Asgard, where there should be a ship. Flashbacks show how a zombified Thanos, wielding the Infinity Stones, devastated Wakanda.
In New Asgard, Wanda appears and reveals her plan to "heal" the world her way. She infects the Asgardians with tainted food and forces everyone to flee into space. Kamala finally switches on the transmitter, only to learn the Nova Corps has put Earth under quarantine. The Corps shoots down the ship, and the survivors are rescued by the sorcerers of Kamar-Taj. There they learn that Bruce Banner has become the Infinity Hulk, a body holding the power of the Infinity Stones.
In the final battle, nearly every ally falls and Wanda takes the Stones' power. She offers Kamala her hand and promises to fix everything. Kamala takes it. Next, she wakes up in a peaceful Jersey City with her family, Kate, and Riri. But zombie faces start flickering in the crowd, and Riri tells her the truth: none of this is real. Kamala did not save the world, she handed it to the Queen of the Dead. The series ends on that dark twist, with no answer about what comes next.
