Full story
After killing Kilgrave, Jessica Jones is the talk of the town and she hates it. She keeps drinking and taking cases at Alias Investigations, now with Malcolm as her assistant. Trish Walker, her adoptive sister, pushes one case on her: find out what IGH is, the program that experimented on Jessica after the car crash that killed her family.
The investigation turns into a trail of bodies. People tied to IGH are dying, and the killer is a woman with strength like Jessica's. The truth hurts: it's Alisa Jones, Jessica's mother, whom everyone believed died in the crash. Dr. Karl Malus saved Alisa with the same treatments, but she was left with fits of rage she can't control. Malus has kept her hidden for years and become her partner.
Jessica tries to protect her mother while stopping her from killing again. Alisa ends up in prison. Meanwhile, Trish spirals. Hooked on an inhaler that boosts her strength, she loses her job, dumps her boyfriend and even knocks Malcolm out so she can force Malus to run the same procedure on her. She nearly dies on the table. Jeri Hogarth learns she has ALS, tries a cure from a man who claims to heal by touch and, when it fails, manipulates Inez into killing him. Jessica also gets involved with Oscar, her neighbor and the father of young Vido.
Alisa breaks out of prison and Jessica decides to run away with her and leave everything behind. The two share one last moment on a Ferris wheel. Trish gets there before the police and shoots Alisa dead, convinced she's saving her sister. Jessica is crushed and doesn't forgive her.
The season ends with the sisters estranged. Jessica tries to move on with Oscar and Vido, Malcolm goes to work for Jeri, and Trish, alone, realizes Malus's procedure worked: she catches a falling phone with reflexes she never had. That comes back later.
