Full story
As a boy in Hell's Kitchen, Matt Murdock discovers that his father, boxer Jack Murdock, does dirty work for a loan shark. He runs off, and an accident with toxic waste blinds him. In return, his other senses become razor sharp, and he starts "seeing" the world through sound waves. Ashamed, Jack goes back to fighting clean. When he refuses to throw a fixed fight, he's murdered in an alley.
Twenty years later, Matt is a lawyer who defends the poor and the innocent with his partner, Foggy Nelson. At night he puts on red leather and becomes Daredevil, a vigilante who punishes the people the law lets go. Reporter Ben Urich is investigating the masked man and also a name that keeps coming up in the underworld: the Kingpin, who is really businessman Wilson Fisk.
At a café, Matt meets Elektra Natchios, the daughter of a Greek billionaire. They size each other up in a martial arts fight on a playground and start a romance. Her father, Nikolas, has worked for Fisk and wants out. Fisk hires Bullseye, an Irish assassin who can turn any object into a weapon. Bullseye steals Daredevil's billy club and kills Nikolas with it, framing the hero. Elektra swears revenge.
One night, Elektra finds Daredevil on a rooftop and wounds him with her sais. When she pulls off his mask, she sees it's Matt and realizes her mistake. Bullseye arrives, fights her and kills her. Wounded, Matt drags himself to a church, where he faces Bullseye. The sound of the bells gives the villain away. Daredevil throws him from high up and he lands on a car, broken but alive.
Matt goes after Fisk in his office. They fight, and Fisk admits he's the one who killed Jack Murdock years ago. Matt beats him but doesn't kill him and leaves him for the police. Fisk knows the hero's identity but can't tell anyone without admitting a blind man beat him. Urich also figures out who Daredevil is but drops the story. One scene shows a presence on a rooftop and a necklace in the dark, a sign Elektra may not be dead. In the post-credits scene, Bullseye turns up in the hospital, pinning a fly with a needle in one perfect throw.
