Quick recap

In 54 BC, Caesar is deep in the Gallic war and has just invaded Britain. The first half covers the end of the conquest: the return from Britain, a close call at Gergovia and the siege of Alesia, where he rings the citadel, beats off the relief army and takes Vercingetorix's surrender. Gallic resistance ends at Uxellodunum. The second half is politics. Julia and Crassus die, the pact with Pompey falls apart, and the boni refuse to deal on a second consulship for Caesar. He crosses the Rubicon, and civil war begins. After Dyrrachium, Caesar beats Pompey at Pharsalus. In the end, Pompey flees to Egypt and is murdered there, and the boni leaders scatter.
