Shadows

Dawson Black, a Luxen and Daemon and Dee's brother, falls for Bethany Williams, the new girl in Petersburg. The Luxen have to hide what they are and aren't allowed to get involved with humans, but Dawson can't stay away. He tells Bethany the truth, and their romance grows in secret while his family and the other Luxen warn him about the danger. Being near him leaves a trace of light on her that the Arum, the Luxen's enemies, can see. In the end, the danger catches up: Dawson uses his powers to save Bethany, and the couple vanishes. To their family and the town, they're dead.
