Quick recap

The Black Swan goes silent, and the Council orders Sophie to heal Fintan, a dangerous Pyrokinetic, to learn the rebels' plans. When he wakes, Fintan unleashes Everblaze, a fire almost nothing can put out. Part of the city burns, and Fintan and Councillor Kenric die. At the memorial, Sophie slips into the ogre king's mind and breaks the peace treaty. As punishment she gets an ability restrictor. Reading Jolie's coded journal, she learns the killer was Brant, Jolie's fiancé and one of her kidnappers. Grady nearly kills him, and Brant escapes. On Everest the Neverseen are waiting, and Keefe learns the traitor is his own mother, Lady Gisela. In the end the friends decide to join the Black Swan and head for Florence.
