Quick recap

Poirot decides to retire, but first he wants to cap his career with 12 cases that echo the labours of Hercules, the hero whose name he shares. He hunts for jobs that fit each legend: a kidnapped Pekinese stands in for the Nemean Lion, a spreading rumor becomes the Lernaean Hydra, and the search for a missing woman leads to a boar hunt in the Alps. Along the way he meets Countess Vera Rossakoff again, the only woman who ever won him over. The stories stand alone and run from funny to dark. The opening and the last story close the idea like a cycle.
