Quick recap
Jodie and her brother Mark spend the summer at their grandparents' farm and find everything off. The corn is thin, the grandparents look worn out, and the one old scarecrow has become a dozen new ones. Farmhand Stanley, who lives by a book of superstitions, made a deal with them: they obey him and never laugh at him again, and he keeps the scarecrows asleep. Some woke up anyway. Stanley's son Sticks helps the kids. When Stanley chants from his book, he loses control, and the scarecrows march on the house. Sticks fights them off with torches. The next day all seems normal, until the stuffed bear in the den starts to move.
