Greg Banks tells the story of the cursed camera in an oral report. His teacher, Mr. Saur, calls it made up and fails him, putting Greg's summer trip at risk. Greg gets the camera back. During an argument, he snaps a picture of Shari that comes out as a negative, and hers of him shows him huge. Shari starts wasting away, and Greg swells until he can barely move. Greg's brother Terry flips the prints: a positive of Shari, a negative of Greg. The next morning, both are back to normal. Greg brings the camera to get revenge on his teacher, but Mr. Saur grabs it and takes a picture of the whole class, Greg included. The book ends before the photo develops.
