Quick recap

Joe Burton's dad buys two lawn gnomes, Hap and Chip, and soon his tomatoes and neighbor Mr. McCall's melons are wrecked. Buster the dog takes the blame, but Joe sees the gnomes change expression and move at night. With his friend Moose, he sets a trap. The gnomes say they're Mischief Elves, kidnapped and forced to work, and ask for help freeing six more held in the basement of the Lawn Lovely store. Joe, Moose, and Mindy go and find more than 600 gnomes. A dog whistle freezes them, and the kids escape. The gnomes lied; they make mischief for fun. The next morning, Joe's dad replaces them with a plaster gorilla, which winks at Joe.
