Quick recap

When the old hedge knight he served dies on the road, Dunk, a huge, penniless squire, takes his master's sword and shield and enters the tourney at Ashford Meadow as a knight. Along the way he picks up an unlikely squire, a bald boy called Egg. After defending a puppeteer from Prince Aerion Targaryen's cruelty, Dunk is accused and demands a trial of seven. He needs six champions willing to risk everything for a nobody. He wins the trial, but at a terrible cost: Prince Baelor Breakspear, who fought at his side, dies. Dunk learns Egg is a Targaryen prince and ends up with the boy as his squire.
