Threshing Day

At Threshing, first-year cadets in the Riders Quadrant walk into the forest with one rule: don't die. If a dragon chooses a cadet and the cadet survives the flight back, they become a rider. This book collects 13 short stories, each told in first person by a character from the series on the day they met their dragon. The narrators are Brennan, Mira, Xaden, Garrick, Dain, Bodhi, Imogen, Rhiannon, Sawyer, Ridoc, Liam, Sloane and Aaric. The Threshings happen in different years, some long before Fourth Wing, others during the trilogy, and they reveal backstories the main books only hinted at. Brennan's story sets up what comes next in the series.

   The first US edition has 16 full-color illustrations by Joe Requeza and silver-gilded edges. Each story opens with the narrator's dragon. The standard edition has the art in black and white.
