Navarre and Poromiel form a shaky alliance with Tyrrendor's rebels to fight the venin. Some companions die along the way, and Violet finds manuscripts written by her father. The irids reject Andarna because of Navarre's warlike culture, and she leaves with them. Back on the continent, the venin Theophanie captures Violet's sister, Mira. At the battle of Draithus, Andarna returns and Violet kills Theophanie, but Xaden draws even more power from the earth and leaves with Sgaeyl. Violet wakes with no memory of the last 12 hours, married to Xaden, holding his note: don't look for me.
