Quick recap

General Bel Riose, one of the Empire's last great soldiers, attacks the Foundation. The trader Lathan Devers and old Ducem Barr try to sabotage him, but Riose is brought down by Emperor Cleon II, who has him arrested out of fear of a general that strong. A century later, the Foundation has grown complacent when the Mule appears, a mutant who bends people's emotions and conquers worlds without a fight. Seldon's plan never accounted for anyone like him. Bayta and Toran Darell, the psychologist Ebling Mis and the clown Magnifico flee to Trantor in search of the Second Foundation. Magnifico was the Mule. Bayta kills Mis before he can reveal where it is, and the Mule keeps searching.
