Quick recap

A year after Nemo comes home, Dory lives next door to Marlin and Nemo on the reef. One day she suddenly remembers she has parents, and that they lived in California. The three cross the Pacific, and Dory ends up captured by the Marine Life Institute. There she meets Hank, a grumpy seven-armed octopus who wants to avoid the ocean, and reunites with childhood friends. Marlin and Nemo try to rescue her. Along the way Dory learns how she got lost and follows a trail of shells back to her family.

Hidden details

  1. Behind the scenesA documentary changed the ending

Pixar executives watched Blackfish (2013), the documentary about orcas in captivity, and revised the ending. Originally some characters were to end up in a SeaWorld-like marine park. The change gave them a way out.

  2. CameoNemo changed voices, and the old one drives the truck

Alexander Gould, Nemo's voice in the first film, had grown into a deeper voice. Hayden Rolence took over. Gould came back in a small role as Carl, the delivery driver for the institute.

  3. Behind the scenesA sequel without Pixar was planned and never made

In 2005, Disney planned a Nemo sequel without Pixar, at its Circle Seven studio. After Disney bought Pixar in 2006, the studio closed without making a film. The script was uploaded to the Raindance Film Festival website and featured Nemo's long-lost twin brother, Remy. None of it is canon.
