Quick recap

Heaven is torn by civil war between the archangel Michael and the rebels of his brother Gabriel, while a fragile truce holds on Earth. Kaira, a rebel captain, vanished while investigating a possible breach of the pact and now lives as a human with no memory. The angels Levih and Urakin come down to find her and recruit Denyel, an exiled cherub who wants to rejoin Gabriel's army. Together they face demons and gods, and uncover an ancient conspiracy that could tip the balance of heaven. In parallel, the Watchers, punished long ago, seek revenge. The journey leads to the ruins of Atlantis and ends at the battle of the fortress of Athea, where Denyel is swept into the whirlpool of the river Oceanus.

Trivia

  1. Behind the scenesWritten twice

For this book Spohr changed his style: simpler language and a faster pace than A Batalha do Apocalipse. He wrote the whole book, then rewrote it from scratch.

  2. ReferenceNot a sequel

Many readers expected a sequel to A Batalha do Apocalipse. Spohr didn't want to be tied to the earlier plot: same universe, new leads. The archangel Raphael, absent from the first book, shows up here.

  3. Behind the scenesA timeline at the back

Each book in the trilogy includes a timeline of the major events in heaven and on Earth, told from the celestial point of view. The covers are by Stephan Stölting.

  4. SetupRemember the Watchers

A third storyline follows the First Angel, leader of the Watchers, who guided the first human tribes and were punished for refusing to take part in ancient catastrophes. Keep that name in mind.
