Quick recap

In 2631, Bean lives in the cargo bay of the starship Herodotus. Over four meters tall, he can no longer stand up straight. With him are his three children, Ender, Carlotta and Cincinnatus, known as Sergeant, geniuses who inherited his giantism and won't likely live past 20. Carlotta spots an unknown ship orbiting a habitable planet. It's a centuries-old Formic ark. The kids clear the ship of a pest, find the queen and workers dead and strike a deal with the males who kept everything running. Bean spends three days with them and learns that workers can break free of a queen. His son Ender designs a virus that blocks the giantism. Bean stands in the sunlight one last time and dies at peace.
