Quick recap
Buu's fury expels his evil half, which defeats the good Buu and swallows him, becoming the clever, cruel Super Buu. He wipes out almost all of humanity in one go. At Kami's lookout, Goten and Trunks master the dance and become Gotenks, a playful fighter who reaches Super Saiyan 3. Gohan returns from training with the Elder Kai, far stronger. But Buu absorbs Gotenks and Piccolo and pulls ahead. The Elder Kai gives his life to Goku, who returns with the Potara earrings, and Vegeta, revived for a day, agrees to fuse: Vegito is born, dominates Buu and lets himself be absorbed on purpose to rescue his friends.
