Quick recap

Miami, 1991. Fresh out of college, Dexter Morgan starts as a forensics intern at Miami Metro, where his adoptive father Harry works. Dexter already feels the urge to kill, and Harry gives him rules so he only goes after the guilty and never gets caught. His first victim is a nurse who kills patients. His sister Debra feels pushed aside by their father. The big case is the kidnapping of the son of Captain Aaron Spencer, Harry's boss. The investigation leads Dexter back to Spencer himself, and Dexter kills him on a boat and dumps the body at sea. In the end, Debra announces she wants to join the police, and the family celebrates.
