Quick recap

In 1976, Gru is 11, already has the Minions and dreams of being a supervillain. He auditions for the Vicious 6, a gang that has just betrayed its founder, Wild Knuckles. Humiliated, Gru steals their Zodiac Stone, but Minion Otto trades it for a pet rock. Knuckles kidnaps Gru in San Francisco. Kevin, Stuart and Bob go after him and learn kung fu from Master Chow, while Otto chases the biker who ended up with the stone. Gru and Knuckles become friends. At Chinese New Year, the Vicious 6 use the stone to turn into giant animals. Gru, Knuckles and the Minions beat them. Knuckles fakes his own death, and Gru hires Dr. Nefario.
